Batteries - shelf life, and tips on storing them...

Stored at room temperature, alkaline batteries retain 90% of their original charge.
Alkaline batteries have an average shelf life of from five to seven years.
Alkaline batteries may last just 5% longer if stored frozen.

NiMH and Nicad batteries will lose their charge after just a few days if stored at room temperature.
Freezing them will help them retain about 90% of their charge.

If stored frozen, a battery needs to be at warmed up before use.
All batteries just generally need to be stored in a cool, dry place.
